Founded in 2014 by Michael Gronager, Jan Møller, and Jonathan Levin, Chainalysis is an American blockchain analysis firm headquartered in New York City and the first startup dedicated to Bitcoin tracing. The company provides data, AI-powered software, services, and research to government agencies, exchanges, financial institutions, and cybersecurity companies in over 70 countries. Its products power investigation, compliance, and market intelligence solutions used to solve high-profile criminal cases and grow safe consumer access to cryptocurrency. Chainalysis was formed to investigate the Mt. Gox hack and has since helped law enforcement recover cryptocurrency from illegal enterprises, including over $1 billion from the Silk Road takedown.
