Operating sinceOnyze is the first new-generation cryptocurrency custodian and Crypto-as-a-Service (CaaS) company in Spain, founded in 2019 in Madrid by Ángel Luis Quesada Nieto (CEO), Eneko Knörr (serial entrepreneur and angel investor, former founder of Hostalia/Telefónica), and Álvaro Alcañiz Rubio (COO). The company was born with the vision of being more than a custodian — providing financial institutions, investment funds, banking, and fintechs with a fully API-accessible infrastructure to build and offer their own crypto-asset products and services. Onyze operates a high-security cold vault storing up to 99% of assets in compliance with European banking security standards. It was registered with the Bank of Spain as a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) in March 2022 and received a positive CNMV response to operate independently with ESIs. Onyze also participated in Spain's regulatory sandbox with an approved DeFi hedge fund structure in collaboration with Imantia. The company is transitioning to full MiCA CASP authorization under the CNMV. With NIF B88389770, it is registered in the Mercantile Registry of Madrid.
